Former President Goodluck Jonathan – “Some of my allies forgot me completely”

The former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan while inaugurating the Sabin Kaura-Jos bypass road constructed by the Bauchi State Government talked about how some of his close friends in politics abandoned him immediately he left the corridors of power.

According to the former President, these people use to behave like they cannot eat without him while he was in power, but after he lost his position, they deserted him and have not for once cared wether he exist or not.

He didn't hesitate to appreciate the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, for strongly standing with him even after he left the corridors of power.

"Some of the people will forget that you even exist"

The former President said: "It is not easy for somebody to work with you in Nigeria then, even after leaving office, that person still continues with that kind of strong relationship with you.

"I have been in government for a reasonable time, I have attained a number of levels starting from deputy governor and most of our experience is that after leaving office, some of the people you think that if they don’t see you will not eat, will just forget that you even exist.

"But this Senator Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi state, is a good brother and he has invited me to inaugurate the first major project that he has completed. That is a big honour, and it is not the only inauguration, he even named the road after me as Goodluck Jonathan road."

While responding to former President Jonathan, Governor Bala Mohammed, said that Jonathan is mentor to him and has made a lot of impact in his life.
