Nigerian Air Force – No Helicopter Was Shot Down By Boko Haram

There were reports by some media outlets in Nigeria regarding the shooting down of a helicopter by the notorious Boko Haram members in Borno State earlier today, which according to the report, five persons were killed.

The information raised tension amongst concerned Nigerians online today. The alleged shooting was said to have happened in Banki Borno State, Nigeria, leading to the death of five passengers in the aircraft according to Daily_trust reports.

The Nigerian Air Force Director of Public Relations and information Headquarters, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola has debunked the information, vividly stating in capital letters that the reports are false.

Below is a written version of his tweet;

“No helicopter was shot down. No helicopter crashed in Borno State today. A UN helicopter indeed undertook a mission to Banki & has since returned to Maiduguri''
